How to Apply
Food Banks are an essential service and must continue operations through the COVID-19 response. Processes are in place to keep volunteer numbers on site low, and physical distancing measures are in place. We also have a COVID-19 vaccination policy in effect. All volunteers must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and show proof of that before their first shift.
You can apply to volunteer using our online application. You will be asked to create a username and password for our volunteer system a the start of the process. For specialized roles, there are immediate openings. For more general roles, we are maintaining a wait list, and bringing on new volunteers as space opens up.
Please be aware that our minimum volunteer age is 18 years old. A this time we are focused on onboarding volunteers who will be available for at least 6 months and able to do at least one shift a week (3 hours).
During the social distancing required by COVID-19 new volunteers are being brought in with a contact free email/phone orientation process. The length of the wait is a function of available positions, your availability, and your experience/skills. Adding more detail to your application will help us match you to a role.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
Food Bank Volunteers
We have modified our shifts in response to COVID-19. We have shifts throughout the day Monday 9 am – 7:30 pm, Tuesday 1 pm-5 pm, Wednesday 9 am-5 pm and Friday 9 am-5 pm. Since we have transitioned to a hamper model during COVID-19, most roles involve sorting donations, packing hampers and distributing hampers.
We are now taking orders for custom hampers (instead of having clients come shop in our food bank Market). This has created new office roles to reach out to clients to take orders, and book arrival times for them to pick up. This role requires someone with a good phone manner and attention to detail. It’s an important way for us to connect with our clients and let them know we care.
Specialized Volunteer Roles
We are frequently in need of the following specialized skills to support our ongoing operations:
- Volunteer Management
- Graphic Design
If one of these roles interest you please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Our volunteer manager Sheryl would be pleased to discuss these roles with you.
We are a Food Bank & Outreach Centre located in Port Credit Ontario serving South Mississauga
