Volunteering at The Compass is a great team-building opportunity for companies, community organisations, schools, and groups of friends who want to do good in the community and learn more about how food banks work. Volunteers help with activities such as sorting and organising food in the warehouse and re-packaging bulk items for distribution to clients. You will also have a tour of The Compass and learn about what we do, and who we help.
Group size: 6-12
Timing: Thursday afternoons from 1-4
We offer these sessions 3-4 times a month.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What should we wear?
A: Comfortable clothing with closed-toe shoes (no sandals).
Q: Where do we park?
A: Parking is in the community around The Compass (streets, public parking lots etc).
Q: How do we enter the building?
A: Entry is through the first door in the parking lot. Our volunteer will meet you there for entry.
Q: Anything else we should know?
A: There are lockers if you wish to bring a lock for your personal belongings. Please bring a lock if you wish to use one.
Q: Is there any cost associated with group volunteering?
A: The Compass does not charge for these group volunteer sessions. Optional add-ons… some organizations choose to do a food drive and deliver it when they volunteer. Some companies also have programs where they donate funds for staff volunteer hours so it’s great to explore that if it’s offered.
Q: How can our organization get more involved?
A: If you’d like to explore partnering with us in other ways please contact our Communications and Fundraising Manager Melinda Prain at email@example.com
