Be Part Of The Solution By Hosting A Food Drive
The need has never been greater than it is now in 2023, especially in the community of south Mississauga. Currently, The Compass provides healthy and nutritious groceries to over 1,900 individuals each week. Our kitchen serves over 4,500 meals each month. Our statistics show that 1 in every 3 people who comes through The Compass doors looking for help is a child.
The HungerCount Survey for 2023 is still in the surveying stage, but according to Food Bank Canada’s HungerCount 2022 report “The rapid rate of inflation, coupled with rising rental costs, is driving people who were already living precariously close to the edge, off that edge.”
You can be part of the hunger solution. Hosting a food drive is a fun and engaging way to support your hungry neighbours in need of healthy and nutritious food. You can help fill The Compass food bank shelves so no one goes hungry. Food drives also help educate the younger generation about the importance of helping your neighbours and being part of the solution.
Each and every day new clients come to The Compass Food Bank & Outreach Centre in need of help. Many are newcomers to Canada from the Ukraine and Africa and other areas around the world. We are now seeing an increase in the number of double-income families looking to us for help because they are struggling more than every to try and make ends meet. The consistent increases in the Bank of Canada rate, the lack of affordable housing, utilities, gas, sky-rocketing food prices continue while incomes stand still.
If you would like to be part of the solution, please consider hosting a food drive. Please register your food drive below now or contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can work together to help you make your food drive a success.
Thank you for supporting The Compass Food Bank and your neighbours in need. Food is a language we all understand.
