This year marks a special milestone for The Compass Food Bank & Outreach Centre as we celebrate the 20th Annual Walk The Walk on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
For 20 years, Walk The Walk has brought people together to support neighbours facing food insecurity in south Mississauga. It is a day for families, local businesses, community partners, teams, and individuals to walk with purpose and help raise the funds needed to provide food, dignity, and hope.
Every week, more than 2,000 people rely on The Compass for food support, and 1 in 3 are children.
That is why this walk matters.
Registration is now open, and participants who register by July 15 are automatically entered into a draw to win one of three $100 gift cards.
Here are the key details:

Food insecurity is not always easy to see. It can affect a parent trying to stretch groceries until the next paycheque. It can affect a senior choosing between food and medication. It can affect a child who depends on community support to have enough to eat.
The Compass helps neighbours who are facing those difficult choices. Donations and fundraising efforts help provide food assistance, meals, programs, and a welcoming place where people are treated with dignity.
Walk The Walk is one way the community can respond together.
When you register, donate, or help promote the event, you are helping The Compass to continue to support local families, children, seniors, and individuals who don’t have enough food to eat.

Supporting Walk The Walk helps The Compass raise funds for the programs and services that neighbours depend on throughout the year.
Your support can help provide:
This is why local food bank donations matter. They stay close to home and help people in the community directly.
Walk The Walk also helps raise awareness. Every team that registers, every poster that gets shared, and every social post helps more people understand the need and take action.
Walk The Walk is built for the whole community.
You can walk with your family. You can register with coworkers. You can bring together a church group, school group, sports team, neighbourhood group, or local business team or you can join as an individual.
It is also a meaningful way for organizations to show community support. Businesses can invite employees to register, share the event with customers, or post the flyer in a visible place. Churches and community groups can share the poster with members and encourage teams to walk together.
If people are searching for “fundraising walks near me,” “food bank fundraiser in Mississauga,” or “how to support a local food bank,” Walk The Walk is a meaningful way to get involved.

“As a first-time walker, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the experience exceeded every expectation. The sense of community, the enthusiasm of the participants, and knowing that every step helped provide food and support to local families made it incredibly rewarding. I’ll definitely be back this year and would encourage anyone to join us.”
“My granddaughter loved the walk, and our dog was thrilled to be included too! It was such a welcoming, family-friendly event with a wonderful atmosphere. Knowing that we were spending a beautiful day together while helping local families access healthy food made it even more special. We can’t wait to come back this year.”
“Walk The Walk is a powerful reminder that no one has to face food insecurity alone. When our community walks together, shares the event, and donates, it helps us continue offering food, dignity, and hope to neighbours who need support.”

We are asking community partners, churches, local businesses, and organizations to help make the 20th Annual Walk The Walk the biggest and most impactful yet.
