How to Apply

Please apply using our easy online application. If you need a paper application contact us or drop by during Market hours to pick one up. Once you have completed the application we will review it and talk with you about what opportunities are available.

We provide orientation, training and support to help all volunteers do their jobs well. We offer great flexibility in volunteering too. Once trained you sign up for shifts as your schedule allows.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

All volunteers start with a group Orientation session (2 hours) that explains our volunteer opportunities and allows you to learn more about The Compass. You can then decide what area(s) you wish to train for. Each volunteer role has it's own training session (1-3 hours).

Specialized Volunteer Roles

We are always in need of volunteers with skills such as:

  • Fundraising
  • Event Coordination
  • Marketing
  • Food Drive Coordination
  • Planning & coordinating meals for 50+

Food Bank Market Volunteers (many roles)
We are in need of volunteers to help in our Market: helping clients while they select their food, preparing and serving food from the kitchen and more. Daytime and evening shifts are available.

Stocking Food Bank Market Shelves
This shift is Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9-11 am. Volunteers needs to be able to carry heavy boxes up and down stairs, and stock shelves to prepare them for client visits later in the day.

Cooking for Programs
Are you a friendly, outgoing person who enjoys cooking? This role is for you! The Wednesday evening Women's Group would love some help.

Driver
Are you interested in helping with pick-ups of food for to The Compass? Volunteers must have a clear driving record, be insured to use their vehicle for the Compass, and be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
